County Historian

The Indiana Historical Society and the Indiana Historical Bureau established the County Historian Program in 1981 in an effort to improve the historical communication network within the state. Each county in the state has only one county historian. In Grant County, that historian is William “Bill” Munn.

Bill Munn is known as an expert on everything historical in Marion and Grant County. Many absorbed his history lessons during his 42 years with the Marion Community Schools. For over a decade, he has been designated as the official Grant County Historian through the Grant County Historical Society.

Bill gives presentations to local historical groups, as well as appearing on local radio programs and maintaining blog posts about Marion and Grant County history.
