World War 2 in Grant County At our March meeting, Bill & Karen Creech presented on World War 2 in Grant County and displayed items from their personal collection.

Weaver-Pettiford History At our February meeting, genealogist Norma Johnson led a Zoom presentation on the Pettiford-Weaver families and the history of free Black settlement in Grant County. The Weaver settlement in Liberty Township began in the 1840s, and by the 1880s had about 2,000 residents. Additional resources can be found at https://www.marion.lib.in.us/local-history-1

Salute to Veterans On Saturday, August 27th, the GCHS hosted a “Salute to Grant County Veterans” at the Marion Public Library, featuring Indy Honor Flight. Testimonies of local veterans who had participated in Honor Flights were heard and information on the program was distributed. Grant County Veterans Service Office also participated in the event.
